Dental Sealants
What is a Dental Sealant?
Dental sealants are protective coatings that fill in the deep grooves, pits, and fissures of your back teeth, blocking-out food particles and bacteria. A dental sealant before and after makes the tooth look a bit smoother on the chewing surface. It’s essentially an extra layer of protection for the most cavity-prone areas of your smile.
Prevent Tooth Decay with Dental Sealants
Did you ever wish that you could prevent cavities before they start? With sealants, it’s possible. And no numbing, needles, or drilling is required! They take only a couple of minutes to place on each tooth.
Why Should I Get Sealants?
With dental sealants for kids, it makes it easier for them to clean their chewing surfaces each time they brush. It’s also possible to use dental sealants for adults, especially those who are at-risk for recurring tooth decay or enamel erosion.
Dental Sealants Cost
Great news! Most dental insurance plans cover sealants at or close to 100% for pediatric dental patients. But if you don’t have insurance, sealants are still relatively affordable (especially compared to treating cavities.) You can also take advantage of our in-house insurance/savings plan for discounts on preventative and routine oral health treatments. The small investment in sealants can help you prevent cavities for years! Just keep in mind, they don’t protect between your teeth – you’ll still need to floss each day.
A Quick, Comfortable Experience
In most cases, sealants are placed during your regular checkup appointment as needed. Dr. Adornetto or our dental hygienist can apply them, depending on who you’re seeing that day.
